DESCRIPTION:Kawerak is offering travel scholarships to Bering Strait Region Tribal Members interested in traveling to Anchorage February 7-10 to provide in-person testimony at the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC) meeting regarding Chum Bycatch in the pollock fishery. \nIn preparation for the February meeting\, Kawerak is hosting a testimony development workshop\, which will be required for travel scholarship recipients\, but also open to others. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a community dedicated to positive change and growth. \nPlease note: We had to move our dates due to scheduling conflicts\, so please update your calendars. \n· When: October 24th & 25th \, 2024 9:00 am – 4:00 pm\n· Where: Nome Mini Convention Center\, 102 River Street\n· Who: Everyone is invited\, ranging from 9 years to 99 years old. \n· What: Education and support for the community to better understand and address the way trauma impacts all of us. Topics included: The history of violence & oppression\, harm reduction practices for addiction and mental health\, domestic violence\, sexual assault\, historical and community trauma\, childhood trauma\, and much more.
