SUMMARY:Vital Records Drive - Land Management Services
DESCRIPTION:If your family owns a camp/native allotment\, it is a very good idea to collect the records of all owners and potential heirs to ensure the probate process down the line goes smoothly. A probate is when the owner passes away\, and the process in which the land goes through to officially transfer ownership. If the owner does not have a will to identify heirs\, and if the owners/heirs do not have their records of birth\, marriage\, divorce\, military\, adoption\, death and tribal enrollment prepared and ready when the land goes into probate\, this can stall the case from proceeding. \nDue to this\, Kawerak is hosting a vital records drive to collect these documents before a case goes into probate. Kawerak LMS staff will have Will Questionnaire forms also ready for tribal members who do not yet have a prepared will. NSHC Patient Benefits Coordinator will also be available to assist tribal members with apply for missing records\, ie birth certificates\, social security cards etc. Kawerak’s Tribal Affairs Department will be in the building to help with applying for a Tribal ID as well. \nPlease bring all records you have and we will see you Friday June 27th from 1:30pm-4pm at Kawerak’s Talialuk Building at 500 Seppala Drive. \nNote: If you cannot make this event\, feel free to stop by our LMS offices at any time with your records. \n

Mark the date on your calendar and stay tuned for more information as we get closer to clean date. \n\n\n \n\n\nThe cleanup effort will have bags and equipment available to help detangle debris and contain debris\, as well as drop spots to put trash for pickup. Meet us at the NSHC Camp Nook at mile 20 at 10am for safety briefing\, or stop by anytime until 4pm to grab supplies or ask questions. See you then!\n\n
