JOB TITLE: 2026 Kawerak Summer Intern
LOCATION: Nome
POSITION STATUS: Temporary, Full-Time up to 12 weeks
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
PAY SCALE GRADE: $25.00/hr
REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor
The 2026 Kawerak Summer Internship Program is an employment and training opportunity designed to provide hands-on experience, skill development and exposure to professional environments. This internship is open to Alaska Native or American Indian students pursuing higher education and offers a meaningful chance to gain skills that will support career development.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Internship placements are determined based on the student’s area of study and program preference.
- Support program staff with various projects and initiatives as directed.
- Contribute to the daily operations of a dynamic work environment.
- Engage in a variety of activities designed to enhance skills, including hands-on experience, project involvement, and learning from experienced professionals in their field.
- Participate in various program activities such as training sessions, team-building exercises, and collaborative intern projects.
- Benefit from mentorship, leadership development opportunities, professional networking, and engage in cultural activities that strengthen understanding of traditions and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be Alaska Native pursuing Higher Education.
- Preference given for Kawerak Higher Education Scholarship recipients.
- Applicants must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
