Monday October 13th is Indigenous People’s Day and once again the Village of Solomon is hosting Nome’s Indigenous People’s Day Event with support from Kawerak and Norton Sound Health Corporation!

Join us at the Nome Recreation Center to celebrate together. Remember ALL people are welcome! We will join in listening to speakers including Blood and Myth creator James Dommek Jr!

Then join a table for a time for our activity tables, you can learn how to sharpen your ulu or filet knife with Willis Pate IV (age restricted), Make eskimo goggles with Ben Jack (kid friendly!), learn some Inupiaq phrases with Ataasiaq, or get some ideas on dance moves with Ginna Piscoya that you can do when there is an invitational dance!

While enjoying the tables, you can partake in the potluck dishes. Please bring a dish to share too, and you will be entered into a raffle to win cash or other prizes!

Don’t forget to wear or bring your regalia to proudly show it down the red carpet as well! The Fashion Show is open for everyone to participate, no sign up needed! Making her debut as emcee will be Imari Bright and drumming for the red carpet walking will be by Nome’s own and recently famous Sage and Jackson!

If you attend this event, you also will get a special event invitation for later in the week to a private showing event of Blood and Myth!
