Congratulations to Kawerak VPSO Director Gina Appolloni for her recent recognition from the State of Alaska Department of Public Safety as 2025 VPSO Program Coordinator of the Year! Entering her 26th year with Kawerak, Gina started as an administrative assistant in the Community Services Division in 2000. In 2004, she moved to a supervisor role with the Village Public Safety Officer Program, where she now serves as VPSO Director.
With roots from Little Diomede, Gina came to the region after service with the United States Navy. Over the years, Gina has enjoyed traveling the region through her work, meeting people and making connections in our communities.
“I’m proud of the team of VPSOs we have and the hard work they do. The safety of the people in our regional communities is so important. I love my job and my role in support of this valuable work,” she said.
Gina shared she’s honored and humbled by this recognition from the State of Alaska.
