Another course offered to Nome Residents though Northwest Campus is now reachable to eligible tribal members in the Bering Strait thanks to support from Kawerak’s Regional Training Program!
The week-long workshop provides instruction to prepare students to successfully pass the State of Alaska’s written exams to obtain a commercial driver’s instruction permit. Through the workshop, students will work toward employment on rural Alaska projects requiring a commercial driver’s license. Students will also learn the fundamentals of operating and driving commercial vehicles through the workshop preparation to take the written CDL general knowledge and air brakes tests. The workshop is not a truck driving course and does not include behind-the- wheel practice.
To sign up for the training, residents must be at least 19 years old and have held a current Alaska driver’s license for at least one year.
Kawerak’s Regional Training Program dedicated funds to assist participants with travel and the cost of tuition to make attending this class possible. To download the application please click: [Download not found]
