April 1st starts the beginning of a month long recognition of our most valuable resource…kids! What better way to start the month than a kid’s cornhole tournament! There will be many opportunities throughout the month to spend quality time as a family doing fun activities, and we hope you participate.

Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time to remember the importance of keeping our youth safe in our communities, and connect youth with resources they can go to in order to feel comfortable and confident to disclose when they are in a dangerous or unhealthy situation. The staff at Kawerak’s Child Advocacy Center gather partners and volunteers throughout the month to host events so youth can meet the safe and caring adults in our community, and learn about the support they have around them.

You can view the events of the month at kawerak.org/events, or download a calendar at 2023 CAP Activity Calendar.

If a child discloses to you, or if you see something that indicates abuse, please make a report at 1-800-478-4444. Our kids need our help to ensure they are safe. If you have questions or concerns about making a report, or if you have questions or concerns about your child’s expressions or behaviors, feel free to talk with our Child Advocacy Center staff at 907-443-4488.
