Monthly Workshop
Create Your Resume
November 21, 1pm-4pm
Join in this workshop with Brandolyn and receive one-on-one support whether you are developing your resume for the first time, or updating one you haven’t looked at for some time.
Feel free to bring whatever you are able to help you with filling it out (job records, certificates etc).
We will host this workshop in person in the Talialuk Board Room from 1pm-4pm. If you aren’t in Nome but live in the Bering Strait Region you can connect with Brandolyn to request a one-on-one video call and she can help you!

Adult Supported Work Experience Program
Earn and Learn!
Apply to be a part of this 3-6 month PAID work experience program to learn the essential job functions of different jobs! This training program is designed to get you the tools you need to feel confident in the job, add to your experience, improve your resume, and offer one-on-one support as you transition into a work-life schedule.
Experience will start and end at varying times dependent on placement location, performance and schedules. Open opportunities will be posted for new cohorts.

Direct Employment Assistance
The Kawerak Employment Assistance (DEA) Program provides a one-time grant to eligible tribal members who reside in the Bering Strait-Norton Sound region who are transitioning to new or full-time employment. Direct Employment Assistance provides funds for start-up living expenses and employment-related needs necessary to secure employment and become self-sufficient.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be Alaska Native or American Indian and a member of a federally recognized tribe
- Must reside in the Bering Strait-Norton Sound region (minimum of 90 days)
- Nome Eskimo Community tribal members must apply at NEC
- Must be unemployed for 3 months prior to application submission or underemployed (economically disadvantaged)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have obtained a regular full-time job, 3 months or longer at 30 hours a week
- Have not received Direct Employment Assistance before
- Must demonstrate necessity for financial need
- Must apply for assistance before the 1st paycheck is received
Application Process
- Complete the Employment and Supportive Services Application
- Submit Verification of Tribal Enrollment (see your local IRA)
- Submit a copy of your State Birth Certificate
- Submit a copy of your Social Security Card
- Complete the Supplemental Information Forms (in application packet)
- Submit Employment Verification (in application packet)
- Submit Landlord Verification (in application packet)
Intake and Case Management
Once the application is complete, the applicant will meet with the case manager t to review the application, determine services needed, complete an Individual Education or Employment Plan, and participate in a follow-up meeting 90 days after the service was provided.
