Katirvik Cultural Center and the Carrie M McLain Memorial Museum are pleased to announce the grand opening event for the new exhibit Uagut Inuusivut ~ Yuuyaraput (“Our Way of Life in Inupiaq and Yupik) hosted in the Richard Foster Building.
Come join us to celebrate on Thursday October 10th at 7pm in the Richard Foster Building! Look at the new exhibit and hear directly from some of the artists featured in the exhibit at the reception.
This exhibition showcases connections between Alaska Native makers and our wild resources featuring ground squirrel and sealskin. Each artist in this exhibition honors materials and memories that have been passed down through family. Artists include Danielle Larsen, Merna Wharton, Golga Oscar, Kunaq Tahbone, Joni Earp, Bobby Brower, Dana Hank, and Michelle Ravenmoon. Through their work, each artist carries forward kinship ties, connections to place, and our way of living.
This exhibition will run from October 10 – November 30.
