The US Senate voted on Tuesday, December 16th to extend the deadline for Alaska Native Vietnam Era Veterans to apply for up to 160-acre land allotments. The Alaska Native Vietnam Era Veterans Land Allotment Program, or ANVLAP, was established by Congress in 2019 and is currently set to expire on December 29, 2025. The proposed extension provides veterans who served between August 5, 1964 to December 31, 1971, or those deceased veterans’ descendants, another five years to apply for allotments of federally-managed lands in the state. The legislation to extend the program’s deadline now awaits the President’s signature.
