October : Domestic Violence Prevention Month

Join us for the month of October for our 50 for 50 Campaign!
Statistic: 50 out of 100 women in Alaska will experience intimate partner violence or sexual violence in their lifetime.
ACT:
- Walk/run 50 miles through the month (that’s less than 2 miles/4,000 steps per day!).
- Dance 50 minutes through the month (that’s about one song per day!).
- Have 50 conversations with people, reaching out, speaking up, advocating (that’s 12 conversations per week!).
- Wear your purple!
- Make a t-shirt or start a healing clothesline project with your friends/family/community
ENCOURAGE OTHERS & ENTER TO WIN
Post your involvement on social media with that #50for50EndDV wearing your purple, make a t-shirt, your run/walking progress, doing your dance, tagging your friend you had a conversation with. You will be entered in a drawing for a gift card.
If you don’t do social media, you can upload your picture below, or describe what you are doing for Domestic Violence Prevention Month.
October – November : Get Out The Vote!

Get Your Community To Get Out The Vote and Get EVERYONE a TURKEY!
That’s right, if your village reports the highest percentage voter turn out then each household in your village will get a turkey*! We’re not pulling your feathers! To help drum up excitement in your community feel free to use the #(YourCommunityName)Voter. So like #StebbinsVoter or #TellerVoter. Then people can see you with your ‘I voted’ sticker or your selfie with your mail-in ballot.
Kawerak, Norton Sound Health Corporation, Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation and Bering Straits Native Corporation are teaming up for election season to encourage all our communities to Rock the Vote!
*Nome residents will participate utilizing social media hashtag #NomeVoter, to be entered into a drawing to win one of 25 turkeys! If they don’t have social media they can post their submission with their “I voted” sticker or with their mail-in ballot here!
