Kawerak Legal will host tribal representatives together and virtually on May 4th for a training and listening session with state and federal officials about missing and murdered Indigenous peoples and public safety concerns that villages have around domestic violence and sexual assault. The meeting will be in Nome as well as streamed virtually. Ingrid Cumberlidge from the US Attorney General’s office will travel to the region for the meeting. We hope to share about the work our own tribes are doing through their tribal courts to combat domestic violence and protect their tribal citizens, and to hear what our state and federal partners are working on to promote public safety in our region and across the state.
If you are interested in representing your community, please contact Crystal Toolie at 907-443-4325. Call in and the virtual information links are listed below.
