The Kawerak Board of Directors and Kawerak’s Education, Employment and Supportive Services Department have officially approved a $1000 supplemental emergency scholarship payment to go to current Kawerak Higher Education students. We recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic has placed difficulties on many of us, and the burden can be particularly heavy on our students. We are so proud of the dedicated time our young people have spent pursuing their education, and we want to ensure they know we continue to champion them even in hard times.
To be eligible for the $1000 in emergency funds students must be currently in college and have received a Kawerak Higher Education scholarship for Spring 2020. Students MUST also fill out two forms:
Staff will be calling students over the next week to check in on how they are doing, find out what their needs might be, and letting them know about the emergency funds.
If students have questions, they can contact Marilyn at 443-4351 or Crystal at 443-4358 Mon-Fri between 11am-3pm. The W-9 form and Direct Deposit form must be completed and emailed to intake@kawerak.org.
Funds are intended to assist students with unexpected needs that have arisen such as purchase of a laptop for distance learning, a plane ticket to get home or to have additional funds needed for housing, internet costs, etc.
Forms are also available for download on our website, kawerak.org/he
Students, Kawerak is proud of you working to your goals. Stay positive, we are here for you!
