White Mountain BIA Silver Tanks Site

History: The White Mountain BIA Silver Tanks site is located along the airport road. There are 4 tall old silver/rusty tanks located on site. These tanks were used by the BIA to store fuel. They have been made obsolete and cleaned. The property is owned by the White Mountain Native Corporation. 

Concerns:

The community is concerned that these tanks may have leached petroleum products into the soil surrounding the site. Willows grow on site which are a subsistence green. Locals are concerned to pick greens in the area due to possible contamination.

6/2023: Staff conducted an initial site visit.
